For a long time now, the team at Lingerie Lowdown have wanted to support a worthy charity with a donation of goods. We wanted our donation to make a real difference to women’s lives and, after researching many charities both locally, nationally and internationally, we found a charity worthy of our support.
I’m sure we’ve all heard of food banks but have you ever considered that families who are struggling to put food on the table will also be struggling to make other household purchases and this is where the incredible team at The Hygiene Bank have created something very special. As they say, “It is not right that feeling clean should be a luxury or a privilege for anyone in society”. They have built up a network of outlets across the UK to give people access to everyday items because hygiene poverty is as important as food poverty.
If you’ve been following us for many years now, you will know the difference that period pants have made to many of our presenters and we felt that this was the perfect item to donate to The Hygiene Bank. Not only are period pants a more sustainable product to conventional sanitary products that are generating a huge plastic waste problem, we also have first-hand feedback from the team that show they can also significantly reduce the pain and discomfort they used to experience using other sanitary products during their menstrual cycle.
So after reaching out to them, we are delighted to confirm that Lingerie Lowdown have made a donation of period pants to the value of £2,500 which have been distributed to two regions in the UK. It’s a pleasure to know that our small donation will be changing the lives of women in the UK and also making a small step towards reducing plastic waste at the same time.
Further details about their incredible work here in the UK can be found online at The Hygiene Bank.
